Fall Virtual Seminar

Our Speaker, Colleen Knudson, CDP, CADDCT, Author, will present a
PowerPoint program with handouts, polling questions and open-ended
questions through the Chat Function to effectively cover all the material
for the educational sessions.
Copies of the handouts, will be provided for the educational sessions,
our evaluation form and the log-in information will be provided by
CATRD via email to the registrants.
Upon conclusion of the program participant must complete the
evaluation. Once the evaluation has been received your Certificate of
Attendance will be emailed to you.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

Anyone working with people at skilled nursing facilities, residential care
homes, rehabilitation facilities, adult day care centers, home care
agencies, etc., including but not limited to: TRD’s, CNAs, home health
aides, social workers, nurses, rehabilitation professionals,
administrators, memory or dementia unit managers / supervisors.
Clock hours earned can be used toward hours for your National
Certification(s).

Activities are the heart and soul of our profession they “create
purpose, connection, and wellness in everyday life.” Our speaker
Colleen Knudson, will share her passion for activity programming with
you! She will discuss 1:1 visits to maximize time spent with your
resident; help you unleash your creative side for the benefit of your
residents; review current trends to help you deliver innovate activities.

1. Review goals of 1:1 Programming
2. Outline a variety of successful 1:1 activities
3. Adapt these activities for a variety of skill levels
Create and Craft
1. Illustrate how to create an Art Program that will facilitate creativity
and resiliency in staff and residents
2. Plan how to adapt this Art Program to be used in your facility
3. Discuss the positive effects seen by utilizing Art to create strength
and resiliency during challenging times
Activity Trends in Long Term Care
1. Identify current activity trends
2. Explore programming possibilities for each trend
3. Utilize these trends to create innovative activities for your residents

OUR SPEAKER

Colleen Knudson, CDP, CADDCT, Author

Colleen is the Life Enrichment Coordinator at Attic Angel
Community in Middleton, WI. She is a Certified Dementia
Practitioner and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia
Care Trainer through the National Council of Certified
Dementia Practitioners. Colleen has worked in Long Term
Care for over 20 years in a variety of settings – Nursing Home,
Assisted Living, Memory Care and Adult Day.
Colleen served as the President of her state activity
association, Wisconsin Representatives of Activity
Professionals, for six years and is currently serving as the
International Development Director for the National
Association of Activity Professionals.
Colleen has co-authored several Activity Lesson Plan books
and has experience speaking at the state, national, and
international level.
Colleen’s passion is using activities and recreational
engagement to create purpose, connection, and wellness in
everyday life. Her special interests include using nature, art
and community to increase connection and belonging in long term care
